This category was really fun for me. For this one, I choose one of my favorite books from second or third grade, Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Lois Sachar. I actually picked up the set (3 books) of these at a book fair at my daughter's school a few months ago, and reading it yesterday brought back so many memories.
This book is about an elementary school that was built wrong. Instead of being one story with thirty rooms, it is thirty stories with one room on each floor. Each chapter of the book describes a different student in Mrs. Jewls's class on the thirtieth floor.
There really isn't a lot to say because this book doesn't really have a lot of plot, it is fun to see all of the different characters though. There is a lot of humor here and definitely a lot of imagination. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many of these characters/stories that I actually remembered.
If you are looking for something really fast and fun to read, check this out. I can't wait for my daughter to read this on her own -- she knows all of the words, she just needs to work on reading longer books.
